Ingredients
- 454 g (1 lb) of Fontaine Family veal stewing cubes
- oil, enough for heating
- 4 garlic cloves, diced
- 2.5 cm (1 inch) fresh ginger, finely diced
- 2 green Thai chilies
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) chili flakes
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1/2 bell peppers, (mix of green and red), sliced thinly lengthwise
- 15 ml (1 Tbsp.) soy sauce
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) brown sugar
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) rice vinegar
- 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp.) fish sauce
- 250 ml (1 cup) water
- 250 ml (1 cup) coconut milk
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro to garnish
Preparation
- In a pan heat up some oil and add in diced garlic, diced ginger, Thai green chilies (optional) and chili flakes.
- Once the garlic starts to brown add in diced red onion and sauté for about 2 minutes.
- Add veal cubes and sauté for about 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add in the bell peppers, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and fish sauce .
- Add in water and bring to a boil.
- Add in coconut milk, lower heat, cover and simmer for another 15-20 minutes.
- Add salt to taste and garnish with fresh chopped cilantro prior to serving over a bed of white rice.
