Our founding principles are at the root of our desire to provide our customers with the highest level of quality and food safety, while incorporating sustainable development practices and ethical farming practices.
Our story began in La Présentation, near St-Hyacinthe. Brothers Fabien, Donald and Alexandre grew up caring for the neighbouring farm’s calves, developing their passion for these animals and a respect for their role in the dairy industry.
Soon, they saw that their hobby had everything to become not only a profession, but a vocation.
The vocation to do right, to offer a quality of life to the calves. Doing it properly, working only with producers who shared the same family values and who raised calves according to the highest ethical standards.
Doing it right, to feed Canadians with the highest quality meat.
The Fontaine family’s properties grew in number and size over the years, but growth never came at the expense of the brothers’ values, because their passion for doing things right is part of the Fountain family’s DNA.
The quality control of our products is essential. This is why we choose partners of choice, who share the same values than us.
Our quality policy emphasizes criteria that respect the animal at every stage of production and processing. We offer the best farming and transportation practices, we set up reception facilities for animals and their well-being, and we are committed to ensuring that our slaughter procedures meet strict animal protection criteria.
Our commitment to food safety and animal welfare has earned us many certifications. Notably in June 2016, when we proudly obtained the first SQF global certification for raising milk-fed calves.
