  • 454 g (1 lb) Fontaine Family lean ground veal or beef
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 125 ml (½ cup) pitted and chopped black olives
  • 10 ml (2 tsp.) dried oregano

Feta bell pepper sauce

  • 250 mL (1 cup) crumbled and drained feta cheese
  • 500 mL (2 cups) jarred roasted red peppers (or 3 fresh roasted peppers, peeled and seeded)
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) chopped fresh mint
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) maple syrup
  • 5 ml (1 tsp.) red wine vinegar
  • Toppings (optional): eggplant slices, grilled zucchini slices, sliced tomatoes, sliced grilled red onion


  1. In a bowl, combine ground meat, olives and oregano. Form into 4 flattened patties. Let stand in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
  2. Feta bell pepper sauce: In a blender, place all the ingredients for the sauce and process until pureed. The sauce will thicken in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat the BBQ to high. Oil the grill. Grill burgers for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until the meat is cooked. Toast the buns.
  4. Assembly: Spread burger buns with feta bell pepper sauce. Place meat and toppings on bun and serve.
