Ingredients

  • 454 g (1 lb) Fontaine Family lean ground beef
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) sesame oil
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 15 mL (1 tbsp) grated ginger
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) soy sauce
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) honey
  • 125 mL (½ cup) chopped cabbage
  • 125 mL (½ cup) corn kernels
  • 125 mL (½ cup) green beans, cut into chunks
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500 mL (2 cups) cooked rice
  • 60 mL (¼ cup) whole cashews
  • Thai basil leaves to taste

Preparation

  1. In a large skillet, heat half of the sesame oil (15 mL) on medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook for about five minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger and continue cooking for another two minutes while stirring frequently. Then, add the soya sauce, honey, and continue stirring. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In another skillet, heat the remaining oil over medium heat, add vegetables, and cook for three minutes.

Side dishes

Serve a portion of meat and vegetables over hot rice and sprinkle with cashews and Thai basil.
